Measure

Why measure? Can't my paperhanger just tell you how many rolls I need?

This works with patterned wallpaper, but not with murals.

With ordinary patterned wallpaper, a paperhanger just measures square footage, which he converts into "rolls" of wallpaper.

As long as the pattern matches, he can stick bits of these rolls where-ever he likes.

But with a mural the scenery has to flow logically around the room. If you run out of sky, for example, you can't just stick a bit of grass there.

That's why we need your room's exact measurements, so we can figure out for you just how much mural you will need.

Two Ways to Measure:

1) I don't have a lot of doorways or windows in the room :

Congrats! This is easy - measure your room's length, width, and height.  Send us those measurements, together with photos of each wall, and we'll send you enough mural to cover the entire room.

Your paperhanger will cut out spaces where the doors and windows go, and discard that extra material.

This method might seem wasteful, but it ensures that the mural scenery flows logically around the whole room (sky above the windows, for example, and landscape below and between them).  It also saves your paperhanger time and thought, lowering his bill.

2) I have a room with big doorway openings or huge windows:
Usually we just print enough mural to cover every surface and cut out the doors and windows, which get discarded. This is how other mural wallpaper companies do it, since it guarantees the scenery will flow correctly.

But we understand that if you have really large openings in the wall, this method suddenly becomes painful. No one wants to pay for a big beautiful chunk of mural that ends up in the trash can! So here's the answer we came up with:

Sends us your exact room measurements, including placement and dimensions of the doors and windows. We'll print out full scenery for the rest of the walls, but just strips of sky to go over the doors and windows (and long strips of scenery for under the windows, if appropriate). We will send you a plan outlining how to the hang the mural so it all lines up.

It's a little more work on your part, and on ours, but it saves you money in the end.

The only drawback is that you may see a slight difference in color on the very short seams that meet above or below the doors and windows (where sky meets sky or landscape meets landscape).

How You Do It.

1) Send us elevations. If you already have professionally drawn room elevations, congratulations! Your job is done. Please send them to us, preferably with a photo of each wall moving clockwise around the room.  Oh, and please check with your builder to architect to make sure the elevations are up to date and accurate before sending.

2) No elevations? You can create room sketches as follows:
Moving clockwise around the room, take a good clear well-lit photo of each wall.
Next, take a sheet of paper for each wall, and draw as best you can the dimensions. Mark the overall height and width of each wall, not including moldings. M
easure the height and width of each window, as well as their placement on the wall, including moldings. Measure the placement and height and width of each door, including moldings.  This example should make things clear- if not, feel free to call:
